Example of Play Max had a tough day. His new squad was still quite a bit rough around the edges. Combined with the absolutely weird combined arms concept, his day resulted in one big headache. The NCO Club is all that he needed. A good beer and the absence of his squad would be just the thing to relax. "Hey, Max, where ya headed?" shouted Kerry. Oh, great, just what I need. Can't Kerry get it through his thick skull, he's an ass! "Got some personal business to take care of, and you?" Why, oh why, do I even ask? "Actually, Max, I came out here to see you." "Oh, still pissed about me taking you down in training, are we?" Kerry braces himself, ready to throw down with the larger man. "I'm ready to go right here. I don't take getting insulted well." Our opponents roll a Combat Sense opposed skill test. The Margin of Success (MoS) in this roll is irrelevant. The highest result will act first, then order is determined in descending order. Tie results occur simultaneously. Max makes a Combat Sense check, rolling a 5: +1 PER +0 GM Modifier = 6 Stark makes an unskilled Combat Sense check, rolling a 3, 5: +1 PER +0 GM Modifier = 4 Max steps back, "Go for it, Stark." Max has opted to hold his attack. He can act at any time before the end of the round. The attack cannot be carried over to the next round. Stark whips out his 6mm pistol, "I'm not playing your games. This is for keeps." Max, using his held action, declares he will do an all-out dodge. Stark
determines his attack modifiers: Max
determines his defense modifiers: Stark's shot goes wide as Max dodges about. The next round begins, each opponent makes their initiative again. Max makes a Combat Sense check, rolling a 3: +1 PER +0 GM Modifier = 4 Stark makes an unskilled Combat Sense check, rolling a 2, 2: +1 PER +0 GM Modifier = 3 "My
turn..." Max steps forward and swings his truncheon at Stark. Stark
determines his modifiers: Max determines his Measure of Success (9 - 3 = 6) to determine his damage: 6 (AD) + 5 (Weapon) = 11 x 6 (MoS) = 66 points. Stark takes 66 points of subdual damage and is knocked cold. "Well,
that was fun Stark. Maybe we'll do it again, when you get back from
the hospital." Max continues his journey to the club... |
